01Issue and Scope

These PL Japan Rental Gift Card Terms (“Terms”) apply to the PL Japan Rental Gift Card (“Gift Card”). Gift Cards are denominated in Japanese yen (JPY) and may be used for designated PL A-VENTURE rental services in Japan.

Rental services in Japan are provided by PL A-VENTURE 株式会社. A Gift Card may be purchased through a designated PL A-VENTURE Online Shop or issued as Rental Credit where eligibility is confirmed under the applicable Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Unless otherwise confirmed by us in writing, a Gift Card is not valid for non-Japan rental services, third-party services or other merchants, and its value cannot be demanded in cash.

02Obtaining a Gift Card

A Gift Card may be obtained by:

• PL Credit Purchase: using PL Credit through a designated PL A-VENTURE Online Shop to purchase a Gift Card in an available denomination.
• Rental Credit: where a Rental Booking qualifies for Rental Credit under the applicable Cancellation and Refund Policy, the approved amount will be issued in Gift Card form.

Standard Gift Card purchase denominations generally include ¥5,000, ¥10,000 and ¥20,000. PL A-VENTURE may add, remove or change available purchase denominations for operational reasons.

Rental Credit is issued for the actual approved yen amount and is not restricted to the standard ¥5,000, ¥10,000 or ¥20,000 purchase denominations.

03Purchasing with PL Credit

When purchasing a Gift Card using PL Credit, the amount of PL Credit required is the price displayed on the applicable Online Shop product page when the purchase is completed.

PL Credit pricing for Gift Cards may be adjusted from time to time to reflect market exchange rates, operating costs and other commercial factors. PL A-VENTURE may periodically review and update prices for future purchases, but an adjustment after purchase will not change the yen face value of a Gift Card already issued.

Pricing between PL Credit and Gift Cards is a commercial product and membership arrangement of PL A-VENTURE and does not constitute a foreign-currency exchange service between Hong Kong dollars, Japanese yen or any other currency.

04Delivery, Member Account and Registered Email

Gift Cards are issued electronically and sent to the registered email address of the relevant PL Member Account. An electronic Gift Card may contain a Gift Card Code, QR Code, Barcode, yen value and/or current balance.

Where a Gift Card is purchased using PL Credit, it will generally be sent to the registered email address used by the PL Member Account that purchased the Gift Card.

A Gift Card issued from Rental Credit will be sent to the registered email address of the primary PL Member Account associated with the original Rental Booking.

The holder is responsible for keeping account information and the registered email address accurate. If a Gift Card is not received because of an incorrect email address, spam filtering, inability to receive email or another matter not caused by us, the holder should contact us promptly for verification.

05Member Account and Non-transferability

A Gift Card is linked to the primary PL Member Account through which it was purchased or issued. A Gift Card may not be sold, gifted, transferred, resold or moved to another PL Member Account.

A holder must not provide the Gift Card Code, QR Code or other redemption credentials to another Member Account for use with a separate Rental Booking under that account.

The primary Member Account holder may, however, create a multi-person Rental Booking through their own Member Account for accompanying family members, friends or other declared users and use Gift Cards belonging to that Member Account to pay for that booking.

Accordingly, each person using the rental equipment does not need to be the Gift Card holder, provided that the relevant Rental Booking is created and managed by the primary Member Account to which the Gift Card belongs.

06Rental Booking and Payment

Each Rental Booking must be created and managed under one primary PL Member Account. The holder of that account is the primary booking and payment party for the order.

Gift Cards, Rental Credit, PL Credit or other member balances belonging to different PL Member Accounts cannot be combined to pay for the same Rental Booking.

For example, a ¥30,000 Rental Booking cannot be paid by Member A contributing a ¥5,000 Gift Card and Member B contributing a ¥10,000 Gift Card to the same booking.

Where one primary Member Account holds multiple valid Gift Cards, one or more of those Gift Cards may be used for the same Rental Booking where accepted by us. Any remaining amount may be paid using another payment method accepted by PL A-VENTURE.

07Permitted Use

Gift Cards may be used for designated PL A-VENTURE rental services in Japan, including eligible Ski, Snowboard, Boots, Helmet, Accessories and other designated rental items available at the time.

Whether a Gift Card may be used for a particular product, additional service, upgrade or other item in Japan is determined by the scope published or confirmed by us at the time of use.

A Gift Card does not itself constitute a Rental Booking and does not guarantee any particular date, equipment, size, brand, model or inventory. Rental services must still be booked through the normal process and confirmed by PL A-VENTURE.

08Partial Use and Balance

Unless limited by the relevant system or a specific written arrangement, a Gift Card may be used in more than one transaction until its balance is fully used or the Gift Card expires.

If a Rental Booking costs less than the available Gift Card balance, the unused amount remains on the Gift Card for future eligible use and is not paid out as cash change.

If the Rental Booking exceeds the available Gift Card balance, the remaining amount may be paid using another payment method accepted by PL A-VENTURE at the time.

09Expiry

A Gift Card will generally remain valid until 30 April following the end of the next full snow season after the snow season in which the Gift Card was issued.

The actual expiry date will be stated in the Gift Card, related email, member record or other written confirmation. If a different date is expressly stated by PL A-VENTURE at issuance, that stated expiry date applies.

The holder is responsible for using the Gift Card or requesting any other applicable treatment within the validity period. Unless applicable law requires otherwise or we agree in writing, an expired unused balance is no longer available for rental spending.

10Conversion to PL Credit

Subject to the arrangements applicable at the time, the original holder may request that an unused Gift Card balance be converted to PL Credit.

Conversion from a Gift Card to PL Credit is not calculated by reversing the PL Credit purchase price or the market exchange rate that applied when the Gift Card was originally acquired. It is calculated using the conversion basis published or confirmed by PL A-VENTURE when the conversion request is processed.

This conversion basis is a commercial and membership arrangement between different PL spending balances and is not a foreign-currency exchange between Japanese yen, Hong Kong dollars or another currency.

Once conversion is confirmed and completed, the corresponding Gift Card balance will be deducted, cancelled or invalidated. The holder cannot retain both the Gift Card balance and the PL Credit generated from the same amount.

Any PL Credit received through conversion is governed by the applicable PL Credit Terms.

11Rental Credit

Where a Rental Booking qualifies for Rental Credit under the applicable Cancellation and Refund Policy, the approved yen amount will, after manual confirmation, be issued in the form of a PL Japan Rental Gift Card.

A Gift Card issued from Rental Credit is linked to the primary PL Member Account of the original Rental Booking and is subject to the Member Account, non-transferability, payment, expiry, balance and conversion provisions in these Terms.

Rental Credit is calculated using the amount approved for the relevant cancellation, injury, resort closure or other eligible event. Eligibility and calculation of Rental Credit are governed by the applicable Cancellation and Refund Policy.

12No Cash Redemption and Refunds

A Gift Card is a spending balance for designated PL A-VENTURE services and cannot be redeemed for cash, bank transfer or another cash-equivalent payment, except where mandatory applicable law requires otherwise.

A Gift Card that has been purchased and issued is generally not cancellable or refundable for cash. Where the underlying Rental Booking itself qualifies for a cash refund, that refund right is handled under the applicable Cancellation and Refund Policy and is not replaced by this Gift Card provision.

Where a Gift Card has already been used in whole or in part, the amount used does not automatically return to the original payment method merely because a later service is cancelled, unless otherwise confirmed by us in writing or required by applicable law.

13Security, Loss and Unauthorised Use

The holder must keep Gift Card Codes, QR Codes, Barcodes, related emails and Member Account login information secure and must not disclose them to unauthorised persons.

If a Gift Card is suspected to be lost or stolen, an email account is accessed without authorisation, or a Gift Card Code may have been obtained by another person, the holder should contact PL A-VENTURE immediately.

After reasonable verification of the Member Account, original issuance record and remaining balance, we may, depending on the circumstances, assist in suspending, re-sending or reissuing the Gift Card. We do not guarantee recovery of value validly used before we receive notice of the issue.

Where we reasonably suspect that a Gift Card has been sold, transferred, fraudulently used, combined across different Member Accounts or otherwise used in breach of these Terms, we may suspend the Gift Card, request identity or booking verification, or refuse the relevant transaction.

14Systems, Data and Service Interruptions

Gift Card creation, delivery, balance management and redemption may be processed through third-party systems designated by PL A-VENTURE. A change of system or technical provider does not by itself change the value or customer rights applicable to an already issued Gift Card, although the technical method of use may reasonably change.

If a system failure, network interruption, maintenance, third-party outage or another technical issue temporarily prevents verification of a Gift Card, we may request Member Account, Gift Card email, Code or related order information and arrange reasonable handling after verification.

Personal information, registered email addresses, Gift Card, order and usage records are processed in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy.

15Updates and Governing Law

The version of these Terms applicable to a Gift Card is generally the version published and referenced when that Gift Card is purchased or issued.

PL A-VENTURE may update terms applying to future Gift Cards for legal, service, system, security or operational reasons. Except where required for legal or safety reasons, a later version will not merely by being published retrospectively reduce the existing yen balance of an already issued Gift Card.

These Terms are governed by Japanese law. The parties should first try reasonably to resolve any dispute. If unresolved, the Sapporo District Court has exclusive agreed jurisdiction as the court of first instance, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

Chinese and English versions of these Terms are available. If they are ambiguous or inconsistent, the English version prevails unless applicable law requires otherwise.
